Riverside FFA Alumni receives awards at State FFA Alumni Convention
Nine members of the Riverside FFA Alumni attended the annual Tennessee FFA Alumni Convention held at Montgomery Bell State Park on February 19 and 20, 2010. The affiliate was recognized during the banquet on Friday night receiving first place in the State Alumni Newsletter and State FFA Alumni Website awards. During the convention over $10,000 was raised to support local FFA Alumni affiliates. Attendees to the convention were also honored with the unveiling of the Kenneth Mitchell print. Pamela Bartholomew was re-elected as the West Tennessee Vice President.
Riverside FFA Member Receives State Award
Emily Keeton, Chapter President and West Tennessee Regional Vice President, was selected to receive the Tennessee FFA Alumni Scholarship. Emily will receive a total of $2000 to continue her pursuits in agriculture. She currently plans to attend the University of Tennessee at Martin and major in agriculture education. Congratulations to Emily for her success.
Riverside FFA members compete in Regional Speaking Events
The Riverside FFA Chapter completed in the Regional Speaking Career Development Events on February 18, 2010, held at Halls High School. John Lawson Keeton placed 1st in District VI in the Creed Speaking CDE, Chelsea Hill placed 3rd in District VI in the Job Interview CDE, Ashley Goodman placed 6th in West Tennessee in the Prepared Public Speaking CDE, and Emily Keeton placed 2nd in West Tennessee in the Extemporaneous Speaking CDE. Emily will advance to the Tennessee State Extemporaneous Speaking Career Development Event which will be held at the 82nd State FFA Convention in Gatlinburg, Tennessee. Congratulations to each of the speakers and good luck to Emily at the State CDE.
Riverside FFA Alumni receives recognition in FFA New Visions
The Riverside FFA Chapter and Riverside FFA Alumni were featured in the latest edition of the FFA New Visions. The FFA New Visions is the newsletter for the National FFA Alumni. 20th Annual Riverside FFA Alumni Auction
The 20th Annual Riverside FFA Alumni Auction was held on November 21, 2009 at the Riverside High School Cafeteria. Over $7,500 was raised to support FFA members. Funds from the auction will be utilized to establish a leadership fund for Riverside FFA members to have opportunity to develop their potential for premier leadership, personal growth, and career success. The Riverside FFA Chapter and Riverside FFA Alumni gives thanks all those individuals and businesses that helped make this event a success. The Riverside FFA Alumni especially appreciates Don Davis and Jamie Martin for volunteering their time to serve as auctioneer. Please visit this link, for a list of auction sponsors.
